Fond Farewell to the Jah-Jireh Blackpool Home

Jah-Jireh Charity Homes has said a fond farewell to its Blackpool Home on Reads Avenue, which officially closed on 29 July 2026 following 41 years of loving care and service.

The Home cared for its residents until Tuesday 7 July, by which time all had been relocated to our sister Homes in Leyland, Wigan and Merthyr. Staff, residents, and local brothers and sisters gathered for a farewell party to mark the occasion and to thank all those who have loyally supported the Home over many years.

Blackpool Jah-Jireh Home first opened its doors in 1985, when our founders, Eddie and Sandra Delaney, responded to the needs of local sister Ida Eccles. Moved by a desire to provide loving care in a supportive spiritual environment, they purchased the property, moved in themselves, and cared for Ida until her death. Two adjoining buildings were later purchased, enabling the Home to grow and serve many more residents over the decades.

Since those early beginnings, Jah-Jireh has expanded significantly, with Homes currently established in Leyland, Wigan, and Merthyr Tydfil. The original vision also inspired brothers and sisters around the world to open their own Jah-Jireh Homes. In the UK alone, we estimate that Jah-Jireh Homes have cared for more than 1,700 brothers and sisters.

While the closure of the Blackpool Home is a poignant moment for the Charity, this decision forms part of our ongoing commitment to use resources wisely and to invest in the continued development of our remaining Homes, potentially expanding our network. The Charity has a capacity to care for 129 residents currently, which will increase to 134 on completion of our development to create five additional bedrooms at Merthyr Tydfil.

We give heartfelt thanks to all residents, families, staff, volunteers, supporters, and local brothers and sisters who have played a part in the life and history of Jah-Jireh Blackpool Home. As the Charity continues to grow and develop, we look forward to sharing further updates.
