Sister Wendy Brooks is in the Maryport Home in Cumbria and has been there since 26 December 2004.

Wendy was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and has been in and out of hospital many times.
When Wendy was little she lived in Urmston, Manchester, and it was there that her mother, Beryl, became interested in the Truth. Wendy remembers that she was just 4 years of age when her mother started studying the Bible with Sister Marion Cope who took along the circuit overseer Brother Richard Gillam who was very kind to the family.
In 1972 the family moved to Millom in Cumbria to serve where the need was great. A few years later they moved to Whitehaven where Wendy dedicated her life to serving Jehovah and on 18 November 1978 she was baptised.
They then moved to Irlam, Manchester, to look after Wendy's grandparents and then back to Whitehaven in the 1990’s.
Wendy has been able to auxiliary pioneer over the years despite finding the ministry difficult. In fact, auxiliary pioneering has helped her to enjoy the ministry a lot more.
Gradually her health began to deteriorate, so Wendy started to go for respite at the Maryport Home which she did for 4 years. Eventually it became too difficult for her parents to look after her so Wendy moved into the Home permanently.
Wendy is still in close contact with her family as her older sister Carol and Wendy's nephew Nathan both work at the Maryport Home.
Appreciation for the Jah-Jireh Home is clearly evident from Wendy's comments. She really appreciates being cared for at the Home both physically and spiritually. The Kingdom Hall is just a short walk away but if she is too poorly to go she can watch the meetings on the television at the Home.
Wendy often thinks about what Jah-Jireh means - "Jehovah will provide" and commented "I feel very strongly that he does this in abundance"
We are preparing for the opening of our new wing at the Jah-Jireh Care Home in Merthyr Tydfil. This will contain 18 new bedrooms, and means that we need more carers and housekeepers. Do you have qualifications or experience in these areas? Would you like to know more? Then come to our recruitment day on 26th July 2008, from 11am to 4pm. The address is Llwydcoed, Aberdare, CF44 0LX (Click here for directions). If you don't have the experience, but do have the enthusiasm, you too are welcome as we offer full training. The vacancies are full and part time. Come along and see if you too can join in caring for our elderly brothers & sisters.
We are looking for people to fill the following management positions:-
The successful persons for these posts will need to be over 18, have experience in care and carer qualifications to NVQ 2/3, be willing to train to NVQ Level 4 in care management, willing and able to assist the manager in the day to day management of the home and willing to work full time including weekends. Further information will be posted on our website. You can also contact our head office with any queries.
Sadly, we find we are unable to continue with our plans to build in Croydon or Plymouth. The good news is that we can build a care home in Rainham, Essex. We have the land, and the trustees have approved plans to go ahead. Of course, all the legal and planning requirements need to be met, and here we need your help. Specifically we need your prayers for Jehovah's blessing on the project. With that blessing, this project will be able to go ahead soon. Then we will be able to provide the care for our brothers & sisters in the South East of the country, as we would love to do.
