Freda [See photo on right] was born in Hazel Grove, Cheshire in 1925. She was brought up in the Truth, her mother being a zealous anointed sister. Freda was then baptised in 1943. Due to the shortage of brothers in the Stockport congregation during these years, Freda was asked to conduct the local book study. This was quite a challenge for Freda as she was a very shy person. However, with Jehovah's help and later with the help of the Theocratic Ministry School, Freda was able to overcome some of her shyness.

In 1950 Freda began a long friendship with Sister Elsie Longden that lasted 40 years. Elsie was a great help to Freda as they cared for Freda's elderly parents and other relatives until Freda's parents died in the mid 1960's

Both Freda and Elsie attended the "Peace on Earth" International Convention at Yankee Stadium in 1969. Freda was so encouraged by the convention that she began auxiliary pioneering on a regular basis along with Sister Mamie Heywood from the next village.

In 1976 Freda and Elsie moved to Llandudno Junction, north Wales where they met Jack and Gladys Fayers. Then in 1982 they moved to West Shore, Llandudno. It was at this time that Freda was diagnosed with cancer and had to have major surgery and radiotherapy. However, Jehovah blessed her with an invitation to attend the Annual General Meeting in Leicester.

Sadly Elsie Longden died in 1991, but yet another blessing opened up to Freda - regular pioneering. Freda pioneered along with Sister Vera Rose and then was invited to the 1993 Pioneer School in Oswestry. Further blessings came with attending the Moscow International Convention where Freda was able to overcome her shyness and thank Brother Bert Shroeder for his support during the war years. [See photo below]. Finally, Freda was invited to attend the extension meeting of the new Bethel facilities in London

Because of health problems, Freda moved into our Leyland Home in 2005. Then in the following year Sister Gladys Fayers, now widowed, came to the Home. After ten years of pioneering, Freda looks back on those years as the best yeards of her life, after the great privilege of living and caring for one of the anointed. Although limited now by her health, Freda continues to loyally serve Jehovah, doing the best she can.

Merthyr Care Home Extension

Despite bad weather delays the floor sections for the first floor are in place, and by the end of March the brick/blockwork should be up to roof level.

Can You Help Us to Help Others?

At our homes, we are currently looking for both paid live-in workers and volunteers. Working, involves day to day care of our brothers & sisters. Volunteers help with hospital visits, outings, reading, and other things which can benefit our residents. If you think you would be able to help in either of these roles, please contact our head office or the home where you would like to work.

Thank You to all who assist us financially. These donations are invaluable in helping us provide care for those who cannot access the finances needed

Jah-Jireh is a charity in which Jehovah's Witnesses care for elderly & infirm Jehovah's Witnesses in a loving spiritual environment. However, we are not part of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of Britain.
